The Denison Pequotsepos Nature Center invites area parents to bring their children to DPNC from 5 to 9 p.m. on Saturday, December 20 for the annual “Nature Night Out” program. Parents can go out and have fun (or do last minute holiday prep) while their children have a great night meeting the animals of the Nature Center, taking a night hike, creating a winter craft and having a pizza dinner with s’mores and hot chocolate for dessert. The program is open to children ages 7 & up and the cost is $25 for members and $30 for non-members. Reservations can be made by calling (860) 536-1216.
The Nature Center store will also hold a special sale to coincide with the “Nature Night Out” program. Shoppers can save $5 off any purchase of $25 or more at that time. The Nature Center store offers gifts for nature and birding enthusiasts of all ages including field guides, jewelry, toys, eco-items, books as well as birdfeeders and seed. All store purchases support DPNC’s environmental education programs.
Since 1946, the Denison Pequotsepos Nature Center has provided visitors and the community with experiential science programs that further the Center’s mission: to inspire and nurture appreciation of the natural world and foster a personal environmental ethic. The Nature Center was founded by The Denison Society and is a private, not-for-profit organization funded by admission fees, memberships and contributions. With 10 miles of trails, live animals, and a natural history museum, the Nature Center provides many rewarding recreational and educational opportunities.
