The Student Planning Association is pleased to announce that the Haunted House will be ready for two performance nights on October 29th and 30th from 5-7pm. Haunted House vistors will also have a chance to get pictures with our goblins and some Halloween games for kids. The charge will be two dollars per person and go directly to our holiday basket drive for Care and Share. We look forward to seeing all of you for some spooky fun. It’s not too late to join SPA. We have new participants every week and welcome the help for the Haunted House and other Community Projects. Cost is $12/month and includes the cost of snacks and materials.

Picture Perfect has begun their journey to better digital pictures. Our group was joined by resident professional photographer, Ron Bence, who shared some of his expertise with the group. They learned about the Rules of Composition and are practicing taking photos on their own until our next meeting. Our next meeting will focus on Light, Texture, and Details. We will also explore Landscapes and Architecture in the following class, when we take a field trip across the way to the Smith Harris House. We also will welcome the Lyme Times’ own photographer, Deb Beckwith, who will share her work and passion with us. Our group has already shown growth and understanding of what is to become a life-long appreciation of the art of taking photographs.

Sitter Survival filled up fast this Fall. For all of you who missed out this time, we will have another offering in the new year. Make sure to keep and eye out in your ELMS newsletter, the Lyme Times, and our website, www.elysa.org, for more details. The twenty-five young, eager, participants this fall will benefit from the years of experience our instructor, Roxanne Kormos brings. She invites guest speakers ranging from the police, Fire Marshall, to parents of toddlers to share knowledge of the importance of responsibility and engagement with their charges. Both boys and girls regularly take part in this course, and they are uniquely able to receive instruction and certification in CPR and First Aid techniques.

We are happy to announce Open Center will be held on Thursdays from 3-4pm. There is a late bus available. Open Center allows youth to come check out the center, have a snack, play various games, and generally hang out with us. Some of the games we offer are ping pong, billiards, foos ball, board games, card games, video games, arts and crafts, and more. We offer rolling registration for this activity. So sign up today. Cost is $10/month and includes snacks and materials.

Registration for SKI CLUB is open! The times will be Monday evenings from 2:45-9pm, starting in January, and includes transportation to and from Mount Southington.
