Guilford Courier publishes a Police Incident Report to inform residents of
incidents, criminal activities, and police responses occurring in town. As
those charged are presumed innocent until proven guilty, the report does not
include names. It may be edited for length and content.
Thursday,
Nov. 20

arrests were made.

Suspicious activity, group of males going door-to-door, one in a wheelchair; Foxwood Road, 9:43
a.m. They were members of a Jehovah’s Witnesses group.
•
Between 2:41 and 4:41 a.m., police issued seven snow ban parking notices to
owners of vehicles parked overnight in violation of town ordinance on North
Fair Street, State Street, North Street, North River Street, Raymond Road,
Joyce Street, Sperry Drive, and Blackfoot Court.

Suspicious activity, two vehicles parked at vacant house, Three Corners Road, 8:48 p.m.
•
Criminal mischief to public property, 320
Old Whitfield St., 10:25 p.m. No other details
were available.

Noise complaint, loud TV on another level in building reportedly turned up
after neighbor called to ask the sound be turned down, Pearl St., 11:35 p.m.

Animal nuisance, big dogs allowed to roam, Russo Drive, 7:30 a.m.
•
Police received notification of an FBI investigation at residential address,
11:45 a.m.
•
Animal nuisance, small coyote limping in backyard, Murray Lane, 11:55 a.m. It entered nearby
woods.

resident came to police headquarters, 400
Church St., to report a possible check forgery
incident, 1:32 p.m.

mailbox was reported damaged by a tree removal company working at a neighboring
property, Christopher Lane,

Burglary, “Rock Pile” construction site broken into overnight, construction
trailer entered, 1919 Boston Post
Road. Copper taken, other items possibly missing;
incident was reported at 6:54 a.m.

Public hazard, fallen tree across Seaside
Avenue, 2:03 p.m. Dept. of Public Works removed
the tree.

brush fire was reported near Connex Bank, 897 Boston Post Road, 2:04 p.m.

Suspicious activity, caller reports hearing chain moving on “Rock Pile” fence,
1919 Boston Post Road, 9:53 p.m. The area was secure when police checked.

Nov. 23

arrests were made.

Between 2:18 and 6:08 a.m., police issued nine snow ban parking notices to
owners of vehicles parked overnight in violation of town ordinance on Michelle
Lane, Riverview Drive, Sperry Drive, Raymond Road, Joyce Street, Pearl Street,
View Place, Edgewood Drive, and Barnshed Lane.

Motor vehicle violation, ATVs and off-road bikes on West Street near Indian Woods, 12:05 p.m.
•
Garden tractor on fire, Richard
Road, 12:45 p.m.
•
Animal nuisance, small black dog rushed at daughter in resident’s yard,
resident now has dog on a leash, Little Meadow Road, 1:42 p.m.

Breach of peace, intoxicated person, Valley Motel, 500 Route 80, 1:50 p.m.

resident requested a female officer respond to assist with an incident of
harassment involving the resident’s daughter, 8:44 p.m.

Theft, firewood taken, Shore Drive; reported at 10 a.m.
•
Public hazard, glass fell off truck and broke in road, 725 Boston Post Road,
11:19 a.m. A small amount of broken glass was swept off the roadway by an
officer.

Criminal mischief, unidentified liquid poured over guest’s vehicle parked at a
resident’s home, East Gate Road, 3:17 p.m.
•
Leaves were reported on fire in a driveway, Shore Drive, 11:37 p.m. The fire
was extinguished by Guilford Fire Dept.
Tuesday,
Nov. 25
• A
20-year-old Church Street resident was charged on a warrant with stealing a
firearm, third-degree larceny, and four counts of conspiracy in connection with
an investigation into an Oct. 3 report of a burglary from a Fawn Lane address.
He is scheduled to appear in court Dec. 9.
• A
20-year-old Branford resident was charged with possession of marijuana with
intent to sell, drug cultivation/manufacture with intent to sell, possession of
controlled substance, and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs or
both after he was stopped in his vehicle on Colonial Road, 10:05 p.m. He is
scheduled to appear in court Dec. 9.
•
Public hazard, large rock in road near Fireman’s Field, 100 Long Hill Road,
9:35 a.m. An officer removed the rock.
•
Shoplifter in custody, Bishop’s Orchards Farm Market, 1355 Boston Post Road,
9:41 a.m.
•
Family dispute, Boston Post Road address, 11:30 a.m.
•
Suspicious activity, caller reports five or six people smoking marijuana in a
vehicle on Lakeside Drive, 3:19 p.m. Police were given the vehicle’s license
plate number.
• A
welfare check was requested on a gray-haired male who knocked on front door of
residence holding a bag of returnable cans; last seen walking southbound on
Durham Road, 3000 block, 3:23 p.m.
•
Dumping violation, 50 to 75 pounds of magazines in trash, Chaffinch Island
Park. The magazines’ mailing labels included a Guilford resident’s address.
•
Family dispute, New England Road, 3:33 p.m.
•
Juvenile incident, boys smashing bottles on the Town Green, Whitfield Street,
5:45 p.m.
•
Police were advised a man wanted on a warrant by East Haven Police had been at
the Yale-New Haven Shoreline Medical Center, 111 Goose Lane, 5:35 p.m., but left
prior to East Haven police arriving. East Haven police were notified.
•
Harassment, complainant reports harassing text messages from an ex-girlfriend;
6:56 p.m.
•
Family dispute, State Street, 7:24 p.m.
•
Police were asked to assist North Branford police in locating a vehicle last
seen eastbound on Route 80, 1900 block, after a North Branford officer
reportedly saw a male in the vehicle rolling a marijuana cigarette, 8:05 p.m.
Police were given the vehicle’s license plate number.
•
Theft, employee believed to have taken items without paying for them, employee
now in the store, GNC, 842 Boston Post Road, 9:11 p.m.
•
Public hazard, tree leaning on wires, Colonial Road, 9:48 p.m. CL&P was
notified and arrived 10:28 p.m.
•
Theft, dealer license plate missing, Boston Post Road, 400 block.
•
Harassment, resident reports receiving harassing phone calls, 11:57 p.m.
From
Nov. 20 to 25, the Guilford Police Department received 290 calls for service.
Police made two arrests, investigated seven motor vehicle accidents, and issued
62 infractions, 79 written warnings, and seven verbal warnings. Police made
five child safety seat installations.
