Mystic Chamber of Commerce celebrates local food culture

Posted by Kristal Spence on Sep 15 2008, 02:59 PM

Local cuisine was the order of the day at the annual Greater Mystic Chamber of Commerce Taste of Mystic held in the downtown area Sept. 5 to 7. More than 30 area eateries offered the best victuals from their menus while ongoing live music and demonstrations kept tasters entertained all weekend. Among the participating restaurants were RiverWalk Restaurant, Pizzetta, Mystic Drawbridge Ice Cream, Mystic Pizza, Seamen’s Inne, and The Galley, and the Mystic Rotary offered Del’s Frozen Lemonade. Providing music were The Mystic Bagpipers, Eight to the Bar, and the Cartells, among others. New to this year’s Taste was the Mohegan Sun Oyster Open, which challenged contestants to shuck as many oysters as possible without compromising the oyster’s integrity.
