Five Local Students Attend Key Leader

   Gayle Moriarty (Montville HS), Jacob Grills (East Lyme HS), Deep Kanagala (Fitch HS) along with Marvin Jones and Gerald Luter (New London HS) attended the Key Leader ( www.key-leader.org )  program the weekend of May 16-18 at Camp Hayward in Sandwich, MA. Chaperones from the Kiwanis Club of New London attending were Tom Moriarty, Bob Grills and Connie Potter. Key Leader, a Kiwanis sponsored youth leadership program, is open to interested students between grades 8 through 11. The mission of Key Leader is to inspire young people to achieve their personal best through service leadership.

Upcoming Key Leader Events will be held September 12-14, 2008, Camp Huckins, Freedom, NH and October 17-19, 2008, Lakeside Camp, Pittsfield, MA.

Kiwanis is a global organization of volunteers dedicated to changing the world one child and one community at a time. The New London Kiwanis Club has been active in community service to the New London area since 1940. Our current major service project is a RIF- Reading is Fundamental program. Kiwanis members read books to over 70 children each week from January through June. The club also distributes books to the children three time during this period.
