Good Works 5K Walk-A-Thon

The Groton Ward of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will sponsor a "Good Works 5k Walk-A-Thon" on Saturday, September 13, 2008, from 10am-2pm in Poquonock Plains Park in Groton to collect canned food items and new or gently used winter outerwear to be donated to community social service agencies serving the southeastern CT community. Each walker is requested to bring either a canned item or an item of outerwear for himself/herself and each of his/her sponsors. Family History Open House

This coming Saturday - March 8th from 1:00-4:00, the Groton Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will hold a family history open house that is open to the public. This is a free event and would interest those with a beginning interest in genealogy as well as those with expertise. Topics such as how to start, how to verify information, how to use the internet and other technology will be presented. This is an event open to the whole family. There will be a kids' table and also a Spanish language table. The address is 1230 Flanders Road, Mystic, CT. Marilyn Rupard
