On May 30 and 31 the Ledyard High School Music Department hosted its annual and ever popular Spring Choral Pops Concert in the Robert J. Gaucher Auditorium. The concert featured 23 performances by 11 different choirs, complete with costumes and choreography.
Student-led after-school choirs such as the men’s group, Final Cut, which performed its own rendition of Michael Jackson’s “Thriller,” each performed a song, while school-directed groups performed three times each.
Both nights were completely sold out with more than 800 people in attendance for each performance.
“They were great,” Ledyard Music Department Head Russell Hammond said. “It’s a truly unique thing. First of all there are 11 choirs and over 300 kids, and the place is packed with people. It’s a light format so it’s really appealing to everybody. It’s certainly one of the highlights of the year for the school.”
