Serious crash closes I-95 in Old Lyme

Tuesday afternoon at about 1:45pm, Old Lyme volunteer fire department and volunteer ambulance responded to a crash on I-95 northbound which closed down the highway. Both northbound and southbound lanes were closed to land Life Star helocoptor to transport the seriously injured driver of the car. No other injuries were reported.

Groton / New London Train Bridge

The time has come where history is in the making. Amtrak lines currently shut down as the removal of the old Thames River Groton / New London Railroad draw bridge, and the installation of the new lift bridge. Many people from all over gathered today to see the Amtrak hard at work, making the ever so slight movements and changes to balance the heavy bridge span on the barge for removal.

Fire destroys summer home.

Old Lyme - On Tuesday April 8th 2008 at 6:15 p.m. a fire broke out at an unoccupied summer home in Point O'Woods at 25 Connecticut road. The fire had spread quickly throughout the dwelling before fire fighters arrived. There were no injuries. Local and state fire marshal offices have been called in. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
