CHESTER:
The Chester Board of
Education has chosen Michael K. Barile, a school principal from Colchester, as
its new principal at Chester
Elementary School. Barile’s
start date at Chester
Elementary School is to
be determined.
He will succeed Hank
Stockmal, who is retiring after 13 years as principal.
Barile comes to Chester Elementary School
having served as the assistant principal at the Jack
Jackter Intermediate
School in Colchester
since 2005. Previously, he served as an elementary teacher at Beecher Road
School in Woodbridge and was an adjunct professor at
Southern Connecticut State University.
Barile received his B.S.
in elementary education, a master’s degree in education, and sixth-year degree
in administration and supervision, all from Southern Connecticut State
University.
Superintendent of Schools
Kim M. Caron, in announcing the appointment, said, “The screening committee and
site visit committee were impressed with Michael’s commitment to excellence,
strong leadership skills, exceptional personal style, dedication to families,
and enthusiasm for students. We are certain that he will honor the great work
already accomplished at Chester Elementary and help us to move forward to even
greater heights.”
The screening committee
sorted through 58 applications for this position before choosing Barile. His
salary will fall in the range called for by contract, which is $105,527 to
$116,130.
He is the third newly
appointed school principal within the regional district within the passed month
or so. Two months ago the Region 4 Board of Education named Ian Neviaser as
principal at Valley
Regional High
School and then two weeks ago named Kristina
Martineau to the post of associate principal at Valley. Both are scheduled to
begin in their new positions July 1.
The district is planning
activities through the summer to introduce Barile to the community, Caron said.
