    "invisible" hyperlinks in blog entries

So - - I posted a blog that included a link to my home page.  However, the blogomatic machine did not interpret it as a hyperlink, making it blue and underlined as is the industry standard, but leaving the text black and unclickable.

So I edited my entry, added the hyperlink to the text by clicking on the chain link icon in the formatting bar, and the text appears blue and underlined as I'd expect.  I click "post" to save it.

Now when viewing the entry the text is not blue and underlined, although the hyperlink function is there, only you wouldn't know it unless you floated your mouse pointer over the text.

So I edit the entry once more, and change the text to be blue and underlined, which it appears to be in the editing screen.  I "post" to save it.  I view the blog entry again.  It is still not blue and underlined. The invisible hyperlink remains, though.

Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong here?
    Or.... is it not me?

Re: "invisible" hyperlinks in blog entries

     Hello David,

For aesthetic reasons (because we're vain like that) we asked our site programmer to make the hyperlinks black. A major reason for this was that the headlines on all of the town pages were blue and we thought black was a classier color.  Plus, it made the headlines look thinner.    =)

However, they should still be underlined and functional as a link.  I'll look into your blog post tomorrow to see what's going on.

    Thanks,
    Melissa

Melissa - thanks for the response ( and the subtle humor - I got it!).

The links are there and functional, but not obvious with the industry standard underlined blue font.  When you float your mouse pointer over a hyperlink, the hyperlinked text turns red, but is not underlined, and the mouse pointer changes to the hand-pointer (for me, anyway) indicating a hyperlink.

Thing is, unless the text is an obvious url or you put in the "click here" text, the hyperlink might get overlooked.

For instance, this reply I'm posting includes a hyperlink to my Auditions blog entry.  Can you find it?  Easily?  Without "cheating"? Big Smile

Sometimes a person will make a post that has text you can click on which is just regular words like these, not an http-formatted url. And if the hyperlink is the same format of the message body (black, no underline), it would be nearly impossible to find the link. Did you find mine yet?

BTW - I've even tried to use the formatting toolbar to make my hyperlink blue and underlined, and it still doesn't show up that way. And by now you know the "like these" in the paragraph above is not the hyperlink to my auditions blog, so you can stop clicking on it. It's elsewhere here.  Sad

Thanks again, and I'll check in on the answer soon.
